Ring Wired Doorbell Pro — Retinal 4K Wired Video Doorbell with 3D Motion Detection and Bird's Eye View

Model number
wired-doorbell-pro

The Ring Wired Doorbell Pro is Ring's flagship wired video doorbell, delivering Retinal 4K video with up to 10x Enhanced Zoom and a 140° horizontal by 140° vertical field of view. Continuously powered by your existing doorbell wiring (16–24 VAC), it provides always-on coverage with no battery to charge. Retinal 4K captures exceptional detail — sharp enough to read fine text on a package label or a vehicle's license plate at a distance. Radar-based 3D Motion Detection measures the precise distance and direction of motion, enabling Bird's Eye Zones that let you define motion areas on an overhead aerial map of your property. After an event, Bird's Eye View shows the visitor's exact travel path mapped onto the aerial view. Low-Light Sight provides true-color video in near-darkness and automatically switches to adaptive black-and-white in total darkness. Two-Way Talk with Audio+ includes noise cancellation for clearer conversations, and a built-in siren deters unwanted visitors. Activates your existing in-home chime automatically. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) is supported. Note: this model was previously sold as "Video Doorbell Pro 2" — Ring has renamed it to "Wired Doorbell Pro" to streamline its lineup.

§ FAQ

What wiring voltage does the Wired Doorbell Pro require?

The Wired Doorbell Pro requires a transformer rated at 16–24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. This is a higher voltage than the entry-level wired doorbells (8–24 VAC). Many older homes have 10–16 VAC transformers that may be underpowered. Ring includes a Pro Power Kit in the box to help regulate power delivery, and sells a compatible hardwired transformer separately if an upgrade is needed.

Is the Wired Doorbell Pro the same as the Video Doorbell Pro 2?

Yes — Ring has confirmed that the Wired Doorbell Pro (newest model) is a rename of the Video Doorbell Pro 2. The product features and performance are identical: 1536p HD+ video (now upgraded to Retinal 4K in the latest version), 150°×150° FOV, radar-based 3D Motion Detection, and Bird's Eye View. Ring renamed the lineup to simplify the product naming structure.

What is 3D Motion Detection and why does it matter?

3D Motion Detection uses a built-in radar sensor to measure the exact distance and direction of objects moving in your camera's field of view. Unlike PIR-based motion detection (which only knows that something moved), 3D Motion Detection can tell you how far away something is — enabling Bird's Eye Zones where you draw motion boundaries on an overhead aerial map. This prevents alerts from cars on the street while still catching anyone who walks up your driveway.

Does it include a built-in siren?

Yes. The Wired Doorbell Pro has a built-in siren that you can trigger manually from the Ring app during a Live View session. It is not triggered automatically by motion events — you decide when to activate it. This is useful for deterring a package thief or suspicious visitor you spot on camera.

How does the Retinal 4K resolution compare to 1080p or 1536p?

Retinal 4K (approximately 3840×2160 pixels) captures about four times the pixel count of 1080p and roughly seven times more detail than 1536p HD+. In practice, this means you can zoom in much further without losing clarity — up to 10x Enhanced Zoom on the Wired Doorbell Pro allows you to clearly see a face, read a license plate, or identify package labels at the edge of the frame.

Do I need a Ring Protect subscription?

Live View, Two-Way Talk, motion alerts, and the built-in siren all work without a subscription. A Ring Protect plan is required to save, review, and share recorded video clips. Plans start at $4.99/month per device or $10/month for unlimited devices, storing up to 180 days of video history.
