Ring Video Doorbell Elite — Retinal 4K PoE Flush Mount Video Doorbell with Remote Gate Access

Model number
video-doorbell-elite

The Ring Video Doorbell Elite is Ring's most advanced hardwired video doorbell, purpose-built for professional and commercial installations where a standard doorbell transformer is not available or desired. Instead of connecting to a low-voltage doorbell transformer, it draws power directly from a standard ethernet cable via Power over Ethernet (PoE) — meaning a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable provides both data and power. This makes it ideal for new construction, commercial properties, apartment buildings, and any installation where running a new ethernet cable is easier than locating a doorbell transformer. The newest model features Retinal 4K video with up to 10x Enhanced Zoom, a 140°×140° field of view, and Low-Light Sight for true-color night performance. It also adds Remote Gate Access, allowing compatible smart gate systems to be unlocked directly from the Ring app. The flush mount design integrates cleanly into the wall surface for a premium architectural look, requiring a surface mount box (included) for installation. Activates an in-home Chime Kit Mini (sold separately) rather than a traditional doorbell chime. Dual-band Wi-Fi supported in addition to the wired ethernet connection. A Ring Protect subscription is required for video history.

§ FAQ

What is PoE and why does the Ring Video Doorbell Elite use it?

PoE (Power over Ethernet) uses a standard Cat5e or Cat6 ethernet cable to deliver both internet data and electrical power over a single cable. This eliminates the need for a separate low-voltage doorbell transformer entirely. The Video Doorbell Elite requires only one cable run to the door — which makes it ideal for commercial buildings, new construction, apartment complexes, and any home where ethernet is already run to the front door or where a transformer is not present.

Does it require a traditional doorbell transformer?

No — this is the primary advantage of the Elite. It requires no doorbell transformer at all. You connect a standard ethernet cable (Cat5e or Cat6) from a PoE-capable network switch or PoE injector to the doorbell. The PoE switch provides the power. If you do not have a PoE switch, a PoE injector (a small inline adapter, sold separately) costs under $30 and connects between your router and the doorbell cable.

Will it work with my existing indoor doorbell chime?

No — because the Elite is not connected to traditional doorbell wiring, it cannot trigger a mechanical or digital in-home chime. Instead, Ring offers the Chime Kit Mini (sold separately) that plugs into a wall outlet anywhere in your home to provide audible doorbell alerts. The Ring app also pushes notifications to your phone and paired Echo devices.

What is the flush mount design?

The Video Doorbell Elite uses a low-profile flush mount design where the doorbell sits flat against the wall surface rather than protruding on a mounting bracket. A surface mount box (included) is installed flush with the wall first, and the doorbell snaps into it. This creates a clean, architectural appearance suited for professional installations — particularly in commercial buildings, multi-unit properties, and design-forward homes.

What is Remote Gate Access?

Remote Gate Access is a feature on the Video Doorbell Elite that allows you to unlock a compatible electric gate or door lock directly from the Ring app during a Live View session or when responding to a doorbell press. This is particularly useful for gated commercial properties, apartment buildings with electric gate systems, or homes with automated driveway gates.

Is the Ring Video Doorbell Elite overkill for a typical home?

For most homeowners with an existing doorbell transformer, the Wired Doorbell Pro offers nearly identical video quality and radar features at a significantly lower cost. The Elite makes sense when: (1) you have no existing doorbell transformer, (2) you are doing a new-construction or commercial installation, (3) you want the flush-mount aesthetic, or (4) you need Remote Gate Access.
