§ FAQ

How long do the batteries last in the Ring Spotlight?

Ring rates the Spotlight Battery at up to 1 year per set of 4x D-cell alkaline batteries under average usage (approximately 10 motion events per day). High-traffic areas or cold weather will reduce battery life. The Ring app displays battery level and sends a low-battery notification when replacement is needed. Batteries are not included.

What is the difference between the Ring Spotlight Battery and the Ring Floodlight Wired?

The Spotlight Battery is portable, battery-powered (no wiring), and outputs up to 80 lumens — ideal for targeted spot illumination of a specific area. The Floodlight Wired is hardwired into your home's electrical system, requires no battery changes, and delivers up to 2000 lumens — ideal for broad illumination of driveways, backyards, and large areas where sustained bright light is needed. The Floodlight is brighter and more reliable long-term; the Spotlight is easier to install anywhere.

Can the Spotlight link to Ring cameras to start recording when light turns on?

Yes. Via Amazon Sidewalk and the Ring app, you can link the Spotlight to Ring cameras and doorbells. When the Spotlight's motion sensor activates the light, it can simultaneously trigger nearby Ring cameras to begin recording. You can also set it so Ring camera motion triggers the Spotlight to illuminate.
