The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery) is a flexible, no-wiring-required outdoor security camera powered by a removable Quick-Release Battery Pack. It records 1080p HD+ video with a 140° horizontal by 78° vertical field of view and Color Night Vision for full-color footage in low light, switching to adaptive black-and-white in total darkness. Two built-in LED spotlights deliver 375 lumens each to illuminate motion-triggered events. Advanced Motion Detection uses customizable motion zones with PIR technology to reduce false alerts. Two-Way Talk with noise cancellation and a built-in siren add active deterrence. The camera connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and is weather-resistant to IP55. Battery life is approximately 6 months per charge under average conditions. A Ring Protect subscription unlocks video history; Live View and real-time alerts are always free.

§ FAQ

How long does the battery last on the Spotlight Cam Plus?

Ring estimates approximately 6 months per charge under average usage (roughly 10–20 motion events per day with Live View sessions). Cold weather, frequent recording, and heavy traffic will reduce battery life. The Quick-Release Battery Pack slides out without removing the camera from the wall, and recharges via the included USB-C cable in a few hours.

How bright are the built-in spotlights?

The Spotlight Cam Plus has two LED spotlights, each delivering 375 lumens, for a combined 750 lumens of warm white illumination. They activate automatically on motion or can be triggered manually from the Ring app. This is sufficient to light up a typical entryway, driveway end, or backyard corner — though large open areas may benefit from the Floodlight Cam's higher 2000-lumen output instead.

Does it record video without a Ring Protect subscription?

Without a subscription you get Live View, Two-Way Talk, real-time motion alerts, and manual spotlight control at no extra cost. You will not be able to review, download, or share recorded video clips. A Ring Protect plan ($4.99/month per device or $10/month for unlimited devices) enables up to 180 days of video event history, Person Alerts, and other subscription features.

Can the solar panel be added later to extend battery life?

Yes. Ring sells the Small Solar Panel (USB-C) and the 4W Solar Panel (USB-C) separately, both compatible with the Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery). In adequate direct sunlight — typically 3–4 hours of direct sun per day — a solar panel will trickle-charge the battery and keep it topped up indefinitely. If the camera is in a shaded location, the Spotlight Cam Plus (Solar) bundle includes the panel pre-mounted.

What is the difference between Spotlight Cam Plus and Spotlight Cam Pro?

The Spotlight Cam Pro adds radar-based 3D Motion Detection and Bird's Eye View, which maps a visitor's path on an aerial overhead map and allows you to draw motion zones spatially rather than just on the camera image. The Pro also includes Color Pre-Roll (color footage captured before the motion trigger) and Enhanced Two-Way Talk with Audio+ noise cancellation. The Plus uses PIR-only motion detection and standard 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while the Pro uses dual-band 2.4/5 GHz. Both share the same 375-lumen spotlights and IP55 rating.

Is the Spotlight Cam Plus compatible with Alexa?

Yes. The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus works natively with Amazon Alexa. You can ask Alexa to show the camera feed on any Echo Show or Fire TV device, receive doorbell and motion announcements through Echo speakers, and trigger the spotlights via Alexa routines. Ring does not support Google Home or Apple HomeKit natively.
