Ring Floodlight Cam Plus (Wired) — 1080p HD+ Outdoor Floodlight Security Camera with 2000-Lumen LED Floodlights

Model number
floodlight-cam-plus

The Ring Floodlight Cam Plus (Wired) is Ring's most popular hardwired outdoor security camera, combining a 1080p HD+ camera with two high-output LED floodlights for 2000 lumens of total illumination — enough to flood a full driveway or large backyard with bright white light. It mounts to a standard junction box and hardwires into your home's electrical system for continuous, maintenance-free power. Advanced PIR Motion Detection with customizable zones triggers the floodlights and camera recording simultaneously. Color Night Vision delivers vivid color footage in low-light conditions, and a built-in 110 dB security siren deters trespassers. Two-Way Talk and IP65 weather resistance (higher than the Spotlight Cam's IP55) complete the package.

§ FAQ

How bright are the floodlights, and what area do they illuminate?

The two LED floodlights deliver a combined 2000 lumens of cool white light — approximately 5–6 times brighter than the Spotlight Cam's 750 lumens total. At typical mounting height (9–10 feet), 2000 lumens will thoroughly illuminate a standard two-car driveway, a large patio, or a full backyard. For comparison, a 100-watt incandescent bulb produces roughly 1600 lumens, so this camera's floodlights are noticeably bright.

Can the floodlights stay on all the time, or are they only motion-activated?

By default, the floodlights activate when motion is detected and turn off after a configurable period (30 seconds to several minutes). Via the Ring app you can also manually trigger the lights at any time, schedule them to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise for dusk-to-dawn lighting, or set a specific on/off schedule. The camera recording is independent of the lights — you can have the lights activate on motion while the camera records 24/7 with a Protect subscription.

How difficult is it to hardwire the Floodlight Cam Plus?

Installation is similar to replacing an existing outdoor floodlight or motion-sensor light. The camera mounts to a standard outdoor junction box, and you connect three wires (hot, neutral, ground) using the included wire nuts. Most homeowners comfortable with basic electrical work complete installation in 30–45 minutes. Ring recommends turning off the circuit at the breaker before starting. If you have no existing wiring at the mount point, a licensed electrician will need to run a circuit.

What is the difference between the Floodlight Cam Plus and the Spotlight Cam Plus?

The key differences are light output and power. The Floodlight Cam Plus delivers 2000 lumens from two large floodlight heads — significantly brighter than the Spotlight Cam Plus's 750 lumens from two compact spotlights. The Floodlight Cam also has a higher IP65 weather rating vs. IP55 for the Spotlight Cam. The Floodlight must be hardwired or plug-in (no battery or solar option), while the Spotlight Cam is available in battery and solar variants for wire-free placement. Choose the Floodlight for large areas like driveways; choose the Spotlight Cam for flexible placement in tighter spots.

Does the Floodlight Cam Plus have a siren?

Yes. It includes a built-in 110 dB siren that can be triggered remotely from the Ring app when you see suspicious activity in Live View. 110 dB is roughly equivalent to a car horn at close range — loud enough to startle an intruder and alert neighbors.

Does the Floodlight Cam Plus have Color Night Vision?

Yes. Color Night Vision uses the camera's image sensor and the floodlights to capture full-color footage when motion activates the lights. In total darkness without the lights on, the camera switches to adaptive black-and-white infrared night vision. This means motion-triggered recordings at night will typically be in color since the floodlights fire at the same time.
