Ring Alarm Pro Base Station — Security Hub with Built-In eero Wi-Fi 6 Router and Local Video Backup

Model number
alarm-pro-base-station

The Ring Alarm Pro Base Station is Ring's top-tier security hub, combining all the capabilities of the standard Alarm Base Station V2 with a built-in eero Wi-Fi 6 router and local video backup storage. The eero router delivers speeds up to 900 Mbps and covers up to 1,500 square feet, replacing your existing router while keeping your home secured. An SD card slot (supports up to 128GB) enables local video backup for Ring cameras — footage continues recording even when your internet connection goes down. Like the standard Base Station, it communicates with sensors via Z-Wave and Zigbee, includes a 104-decibel siren, and offers up to 24 hours of battery backup. Optional Ring Protect Plus subscription activates Cellular Backup. The Pro must replace your existing router, connecting directly to your modem.

§ FAQ

Does the Alarm Pro Base Station replace my existing Wi-Fi router?

Yes — the Alarm Pro must be set up as your primary router, connecting directly to your modem and replacing your current router. It cannot work alongside an existing router in bridge mode. The built-in eero Wi-Fi 6 router covers up to 1,500 sq ft at speeds up to 900 Mbps. If you need broader coverage, you can add eero extenders to create a mesh network throughout your home.

How does local video backup work with the Alarm Pro?

Insert a microSD card (up to 128GB, not included) into the Alarm Pro Base Station. When your internet connection goes down, Ring cameras linked to the system will continue recording footage to the SD card rather than the cloud. Once internet is restored, you can review what was captured. This feature requires a compatible Ring Protect subscription and is specific to Ring cameras — third-party cameras are not supported.

Is the Alarm Pro worth the extra cost over the standard V2?

The Alarm Pro is worth it in two scenarios: (1) you want to consolidate your router and security hub into one device and eliminate the need for a separate Wi-Fi router, or (2) you have Ring cameras and want footage to keep recording during internet outages. If you already have a good router and don't need local video backup, the standard Alarm Base Station V2 provides all the same security features at a lower price.

Does it require a Ring Protect subscription to use the Wi-Fi router features?

No. The eero Wi-Fi 6 router functions independently of any Ring subscription — your home internet will work normally without a plan. The Ring Alarm features (remote arming/disarming, cellular backup, professional monitoring) do require a Ring Protect Plus subscription, but the router works out of the box.

Can I still use the Alarm Pro if I have cable internet that requires a specific modem?

Yes. The Alarm Pro connects to your cable or DSL modem via Ethernet and handles all routing from there. It is compatible with all major ISPs. You'll need to configure your modem to pass through to the Pro Base Station, which Ring and eero guide you through in the setup process.
