Kidde Smoke + CO Alarm, 10-Year Battery Powered with Voice Alerts

Model number
30CUD10-V

The Kidde 30CUD10-V is a battery-powered combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with a built-in 10-year sealed lithium battery — no battery changes ever needed. Part of the DETECT line, it uses a photoelectric smoke sensor and electrochemical CO sensor for reliable detection, with advanced sensing technology claimed to deliver over 25% faster smoke detection and reduced false alarms from cooking or steam. When a hazard is detected, voice alerts clearly announce "Fire" or "Warning, Carbon Monoxide" so occupants know exactly what action to take. The alarm sounds at 85 dB with a red LED indicator. Tested to UL 217 10th Edition and UL 2034 5th Edition. Self-testing is included. At the 10-year end-of-life, the alarm chirps to signal replacement rather than going silent — eliminating surprise mid-night low-battery chirps. Ideal for homeowners, property managers, and contractors seeking long-term, code-compliant battery-powered detection in any room.

§ FAQ

Does the 30CUD10-V ever need a battery replacement?

No. The 30CUD10-V has a built-in 10-year sealed lithium battery that cannot and should not be replaced. At the end of the alarm's 10-year service life, the unit chirps to notify you it is time to replace the entire alarm. Kidde estimates this saves up to $40 in battery costs over the alarm's life.

What does the voice alert say?

The alarm announces "Fire!" when smoke is detected and "Warning, Carbon Monoxide" when CO is present. Voice alerts help occupants immediately understand the type of hazard and take the correct action — evacuate for fire, ventilate and evacuate for CO.

Can this alarm be interconnected with other Kidde alarms?

No. The 30CUD10-V is a standalone battery-powered alarm and does not support wired or wireless interconnect. If you need interconnected alarms, consider the 30CUDR-VRF (Wire-Free RF) or the hardwired 30CUA10-V.

What UL standards does the 30CUD10-V meet?

The alarm is tested and listed to UL 217 10th Edition for smoke detection and UL 2034 5th Edition for CO detection. It also meets FCC standards. UL 217 10th Edition is the current standard as of 2024 and includes stricter nuisance-alarm resistance requirements.

What type of smoke sensor does the 30CUD10-V use?

It uses a photoelectric smoke sensor, which is well-suited for detecting slow-smoldering fires and produces fewer nuisance alarms from cooking or steam compared to ionization-only alarms. The CO sensor is electrochemical. This is a single-technology smoke sensor — not a dual-sensor unit.

Where should I install the 30CUD10-V?

Install on the ceiling or wall in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home per NFPA 72 guidelines. The alarm is suitable for any living space. Avoid installation in kitchens or bathrooms where humidity and cooking fumes can trigger nuisance alarms; for kitchens, consider a dedicated heat alarm or a photoelectric-only alarm with a 10-foot buffer from cooking appliances.
