§ FAQ

Is the Ring Chime compatible with all Ring doorbells?

Yes. The Ring Chime is compatible with all Ring Video Doorbells (battery and wired) and all Ring Security Cameras. Once added to your Ring account in the app, you link each Ring doorbell or camera you want the Chime to respond to. You can configure it to alert on doorbell presses, motion alerts, or both, per device.

What is the difference between the Chime, Chime Plus, and Chime Pro?

The Chime (3rd Gen) is the base model — it plays alert tones and has volume control and Do Not Disturb scheduling. The Chime Plus adds a built-in nightlight (schedule-controlled), a motion sensor that can trigger alerts and Ring Alarm siren mode, and enhanced audio. The Chime Pro Gen2 adds dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and extends Wi-Fi coverage to nearby Ring devices — useful if your doorbell is far from your router. All three are plug-in and compatible with all Ring doorbells and cameras.

Can I place multiple Chimes in different rooms?

Yes. You can add as many Ring Chimes as you like to your account, and each one will sound independently when your doorbells or cameras are triggered. Many households place one Chime in the kitchen, one upstairs, and one in the garage to ensure they always hear alerts regardless of where they are in the home.

Does the Chime require a Ring Protect subscription?

No. The Chime's core function — playing alert tones for doorbell presses and motion events — works without any subscription. A Ring Protect plan is only required for features like storing and reviewing recorded video history from Ring cameras and doorbells.
