§ FAQ

What battery does the XRH01Z use?

The XRH01Z accepts all Makita 18V LXT slide-style batteries (BL1815N, BL1830B, BL1840B, BL1850B, BL1860B). Higher-capacity packs like the 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah will deliver longer runtime between charges.

What is the difference between the XRH01Z and XRH01ZVX?

The XRH01ZVX adds Makita's Active Vibration Technology (AVT), which uses counterweight springs to absorb vibration at the source. This significantly reduces felt vibration during extended drilling sessions, lowering fatigue and risk of hand-arm vibration exposure. The XRH01Z is the standard version without AVT.

Can I use the XRH01Z for coring with a diamond core bit?

The XRH01Z can be used in rotation-only mode with an SDS-Plus core bit adapter, but for large-diameter core drilling (over 2 in.) a dedicated core drill is recommended. The hammer function should not be used with thin-wall diamond core bits.

How loud is the XRH01Z compared to corded hammers?

Cordless rotary hammers run at similar decibel levels to their corded equivalents — typically 90–95 dB(A) at the operator's ear. Always use hearing protection when operating any rotary hammer for extended periods.

Does the XRH01Z have a torque-limiting clutch?

Yes. The SDS-Plus chuck system includes a ratchet clutch that disengages the rotation drive if the bit binds, reducing the risk of wrist injury compared to a hammer drill with a keyed chuck.
