§ FAQ

What is AWS on the XSL08PT?

AWS stands for Auto-Start Wireless System. When paired with a compatible Makita AWS-capable dust extractor, the transmitter built into the saw automatically starts the extractor when the saw triggers and shuts it off after a brief delay when cutting stops, without any physical connection between the tools.

How does the XSL08PT differ from the XSL07PT?

The XSL08PT adds AWS capability compared to the XSL07PT. Both saws share the same 12 in. brushless platform, 4,400 RPM motor, cutting capacity, bevel range, and miter range. For new purchases, the XSL07PT is the current production replacement as the XSL08PT has been discontinued.

Is the XSL08PT discontinued?

Yes. Makita has discontinued the XSL08PT. The XSL07PT is the recommended current replacement and offers the same cutting performance. Existing XSL08PT units continue to be supported under Makita's warranty and service network.

What is the crosscut capacity of the XSL08PT?

At 90 degrees, the XSL08PT crosscuts up to 3-5/8 in. x 15 in., handling wide boards and large dimensional lumber in a single pass. Crown capacity is 8 in. nested and baseboard capacity is 6-3/4 in. vertical.

What batteries are included in the XSL08PT kit?

The kit includes two BL1850B 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries and a DC18RD dual-port rapid charger that charges both batteries simultaneously. Each 5.0Ah battery takes approximately 45 minutes to fully recharge.
