§ FAQ

Is the XLT01 kit still available?

The XLT01 kit has been discontinued by Makita. The XLT01Z tool-only remains a current product. Purchase the tool-only and combine it with 18V LXT batteries and a charger you already own.

What tool is inside the XLT01 kit?

The XLT01 contains the XLT01Z angle impact driver — a 1/4 in. hex-drive angle-head tool delivering 530 in.lbs. of max torque and 3,000 IPM. The tool itself is still sold as the XLT01Z.

What is the angle impact driver useful for?

The angle head design lets you drive screws in spaces where a straight driver cannot fit — electrical panels, behind obstructions, between studs, and in mechanical rooms. It is a specialty tool rather than an everyday driver.

What batteries came with the XLT01?

The XLT01 shipped with two BL1830 3.0Ah batteries and a DC18RC charger. The newer BL1830B (improved 3.0Ah with Star protection circuit) is a direct replacement if you need new batteries.

Is there a current alternative to the XLT01 kit?

Makita does not currently offer a replacement XLT01 kit. The XLT01Z tool-only is the current option. You can bundle it with any 18V LXT starter kit to assemble an equivalent setup.

How does the XLT01 compare to the XLT02?

The XLT01 kit contains a 1/4 in. hex angle impact driver for screws; the XLT02 kit contains a 3/8 in. square-drive angle impact wrench for sockets and bolts. Both have been discontinued at the kit level, though both tool-only versions (XLT01Z and XLT02Z) remain available.
