Makita 18V LXT Compact Band Saw (Tool Only)

Model number
XBP03Z

The Makita XBP03Z is an 18V LXT compact band saw designed for cutting in tight spaces where a full-size saw cannot reach. The 32-7/8 in. blade and 2-1/2 in. cutting capacity handle EMT, rigid conduit, all-thread rod, and small-diameter pipe. At a featherlight 9 lbs. with battery, the XBP03Z is one of the lightest cordless band saws on the market. A built-in LED work light aids visibility in confined areas. Tool only — battery and charger sold separately.

§ FAQ

How does the XBP03Z differ from the XBP02Z?

The XBP03Z is the compact model — shorter 32-7/8 in. blade and 2-1/2 in. cutting capacity versus the XBP02Z's 44-7/8 in. blade and 4-3/4 in. capacity. The compact saw is lighter and easier to use overhead or in tight utility rooms; the full-size is better for large-diameter pipe and conduit.

Is the XBP03Z variable speed?

No. The XBP03Z runs at a fixed 630 ft./min. If variable speed is important for cutting stainless or hardened materials, consider the XBP02Z or XBP04Z, both of which include a variable-speed dial.

What blade does the XBP03Z use?

It uses a 32-7/8 in. 14 TPI compact portable band saw blade. The shorter blade is unique to the compact-frame saws (XBP03 series and XBP05 series) and is not interchangeable with the 44-7/8 in. blades used on the full-size XBP02 series.

What batteries are compatible with the XBP03Z?

All Makita 18V LXT slide-style batteries with the Star symbol work with the XBP03Z. The BL1820B (2.0Ah) keeps the tool light for overhead work, while the BL1850B (5.0Ah) extends run time for high-volume cutting.

Does the XBP03Z fit in tight spaces?

Yes, that is its primary design intent. The compact frame and 18-3/4 in. overall length make it well suited for cutting inside electrical panels, mechanical rooms, and other confined areas where a full-size band saw would not fit.

Is there a kit version of the XBP03Z?

Yes. The XBP03T includes the XBP03Z saw plus two BL1850B 5.0Ah batteries, a DC18RC charger, a contractor bag, and a blade. If you already own 18V LXT batteries, the tool-only XBP03Z is the more economical choice.
