Klein Tools® RT210 GFCI Outlet Tester

Model number
RT210

The Klein Tools RT210 is a compact GFCI outlet tester for standard and GFCI North American 120V electrical outlets. It detects the five most common wiring faults — open ground, reverse polarity, open hot, open neutral, and hot/ground reversed — using LED indicators with an on-body fault chart for instant lookup. No batteries are required. Rated CAT II 300V and built to withstand a 6.6-foot drop, the RT210 is compact enough to pocket on any service call. Backed by Klein Tools' 1-year limited warranty.

§ FAQ

Does the RT210 require batteries?

No — it draws power directly from the outlet under test. Nothing to charge or replace.

Can it test AFCI protection?

No — the RT210 tests GFCI protection only. For combined AFCI and GFCI testing, use the RT310, which contains an arc generator to trip AFCI breakers and receptacles.

What wiring conditions does the LED display indicate?

The standard 6-condition set: open ground, open neutral, open hot, hot/ground reversed, hot/neutral reversed, and correct wiring. The fault key is printed on the back of the tester.

Does the RT210 work on 240V outlets?

No — it's designed for standard 120V three-wire grounded North American receptacles only.

What's the difference between the RT210 and RT250?

The RT250 adds an LCD screen that displays the fault condition as readable text, removing the need to decode LED patterns against the printed legend. RT250 requires 2 AAA batteries; RT210 does not.

What's the difference between the RT210 and RT310?

RT310 adds AFCI testing, a 10-inch flexible cord for tight spaces, detection of simultaneous dual-open faults, and auto-power-off. RT210 is a simpler no-battery GFCI-only tester.
