Does the ET60 need batteries?

No — it draws power directly from the circuit under test. There is nothing to charge or replace, making it ready to use whenever you pick it up.

Can the probes fit inside a standard 120V outlet slot?

Yes — the probes ship with removable insulating sleeves. Slide the sleeves back to expose the bare tip, which is narrow enough to insert into a standard outlet slot for voltage testing.

Does the ET60 test continuity?

No — the ET60 is a voltage-presence tester only. If you need continuity testing or GFCI outlet testing, step up to the ET250.

What's the difference between the ET60 and ET250?

ET250 adds an LCD numeric display, continuity testing with audible beep, and GFCI outlet testing, but requires 3 AAA batteries. The ET60 is simpler, fully self-powered, and rated CAT IV 600V — one tier higher than the ET250's CAT IV rating is shared, but the ET60's battery-free design makes it lower maintenance.

What does CAT IV 600V mean?

CAT IV is the highest IEC safety category — it covers service entrance conductors, utility meter connections, and outdoor overhead or underground conductors. Most residential interior work is CAT III; CAT IV adds protection for more exposed and higher-energy environments.
