Klein Tools 1/4 in. x 25 ft. Wide Steel Fish Tape

Model number
56335

The Klein Tools 56335 is a 25-foot, 1/4-inch wide high-carbon spring steel fish tape for short commercial, residential, and VDV wire runs. The wide tape profile delivers 60 lb pull force with a protective coating that reduces non-contact moisture and humidity corrosion. A slim-profile plastic tip navigates easily through conduit and reduces catching. The optimized compact housing decreases payout effort, making it a staple for everyday tool bags. Features laser-etched descending 1-foot increment markings and coils onto a 7-inch diameter reel. Made in the USA with global components. Carries a Klein Tools Lifetime warranty.

§ FAQ

Why would I choose a 1/4-inch wide tape over the standard 1/8-inch width?

The 1/4-inch wide tape is significantly stiffer — it pushes with more column strength in a short run and is less likely to buckle in large-diameter conduit where a narrower tape might flop sideways. The tradeoff is reduced clearance; a 1/4-inch tape takes up more space in 1/2-inch conduit alongside existing conductors.

What is the 25-foot length suited for?

Short exposed conduit runs, wall boxes to panels, and shallow drops in commercial ceilings. The 56335 is a secondary tape for short local pulls rather than a primary tape for full-building conduit runs.

Can the 56335 fit in 1/2-inch conduit?

Yes — the 1/4-inch width fits 1/2-inch EMT, but with limited clearance. In 1/2-inch conduit already containing wire, there may not be room to add a 1/4-inch tape alongside the conductors. Use 56335 in empty conduit or 3/4-inch and larger when pulling.

Is the 56335 conductive like other steel tapes?

Yes — the 56335 is steel and electrically conductive. Do not use it in conduit containing energized conductors. For non-conductive alternatives at short lengths, the 50550 (20 ft, non-conductive fiberglass) is the current option.

What replaced the older 1/4-inch wide steel tape, model 56005?

The 56335 is the current active 1/4-inch x 25-foot steel fish tape, matching the same specification as the discontinued 56005. If you previously used the 56005, the 56335 is the direct replacement.
