Klein Tools 3/16 in. x 200 ft. Multi-Groove Fiberglass Fish Tape with Spiral Steel Leader

Model number
56056

The Klein Tools 56056 is a 200-foot multi-groove fiberglass fish tape measuring 3/16 inch wide with a 7-inch spiral steel leader, designed for extended conduit runs. Multiple grooves molded into the fiberglass reduce surface contact with conduit walls and existing wires, lowering friction across the full 200-foot length. The 17-inch case diameter allows 10 percent more tape per revolution versus a 16-inch case. Raised finger grips and a sloped handle improve rewinding efficiency on long rewinds. Weighs 6.3 lb. Made in the USA.

§ FAQ

When is 200 feet of multi-groove fiberglass fish tape necessary?

Long commercial conduit runs — building-wide branch circuits, feeder conduit, and underground runs between buildings where a single pull exceeds 100 feet. At 200 feet, the 56056 covers the longest branch circuit runs in most commercial facilities.

Why multi-groove at 200 feet?

On 200-foot runs, the tape spends more time in contact with conduit walls and existing conductors. The multi-groove profile reduces this friction, making it easier to advance and retrieve the tape without it sticking or tangling with conductors already in the conduit.

Does the steel leader affect safety at long lengths?

The spiral steel leader at the tip is conductive even though the fiberglass body is not. For the full 200-foot run where energized conductors may exist at any point, confirm conduit is de-energized before use — or choose the 56059 (non-conductive leader) for complete non-conductive construction.

How does the 56056 differ from the 56059?

The 56056 has a spiral steel leader (conductive tip, better corner navigation); the 56059 has a non-conductive leader (safer for energized conduit, softer tip). Both are 200-foot multi-groove fiberglass tapes. Choose 56059 when maximum electrical safety is required; choose 56056 when corner navigation is the priority.
