Klein Tools 1/4 in. x 25 ft. Wide Steel Fish Tape

Model number
56005

The Klein Tools 56005 is a 25-foot, 1/4-inch wide tempered high-strength spring steel fish tape suited for short wire runs in light commercial, residential, and VDV installations. The flat profile tape features a no-snag plastic tip that resists catching and easily accepts wire. Laser-etched descending 1-foot increment markings assist with conduit depth measurement. A full-grip style handle and raised finger grips maximize winding efficiency. Polypropylene case and handle provide impact resistance. Succeeded by the 56335. No longer in production.

§ FAQ

Is the 56005 still available?

The 56005 has been discontinued. The 56335 (Wide Steel Fish Tape, 1/4-inch x 25-foot) is the current active replacement with the same specification.

What replaced the 56005?

The 56335 — identical specification: 1/4-inch wide x 25-foot steel tape. If you used the 56005, the 56335 is the direct replacement.

What distinguishes a 1/4-inch wide tape from the standard 1/8-inch models?

The 1/4-inch width provides more lateral stiffness for pushing in open conduit. In 1/2-inch conduit with existing wire, the wider tape has less clearance. Use the 1/4-inch tape for short, empty conduit runs where push force matters more than clearance.
