Model number
50053

The Klein Tools 50053 Lo-Flex Glow Rod is a single 5-foot fiberglass rod with Splinter Guard coating that glows bright orange for visual identification and low-light visibility. The lo-flex design provides maximum rigidity for straight pushing through walls, conduit, and ceiling cavities. Diameter is 1/4 inch. Includes bullet nose and flex adapter. Made in the USA.

§ FAQ

What is the advantage of a lo-flex rod for wire pulling?

Lo-flex rods are the stiffest in the Klein lineup, providing maximum rigidity for pushing wire over long, straight horizontal runs above suspended ceilings or under raised floors. The stiffness means you can apply more force without the rod flexing back on itself. Use lo-flex when you need to reach across a room with few obstructions.

Does the 50053 glow in the dark?

Yes. The lo-flex 50053 includes the same photoluminescent coating as Klein's other glow rods. It glows after brief exposure to light, making the tip visible in dark plenums and ceiling spaces.

Can I combine the 50053 with hi-flex sections for a mixed-flexibility reach?

Yes — all Klein fish rod sections share the same threaded connector. A common configuration is to run lo-flex sections in the middle for pushability and add a hi-flex section at the leading end to navigate around the first obstacle before straightening out.

Does lo-flex mean the rod is stiffer than the other glow rods?

Yes. Lo-flex (low-flexibility) is the least flexible option, meaning it is the most rigid and resists bending under its own weight. If you are routing wire through a curved path or around corners, a mid-flex or hi-flex rod will follow the path more easily.

Is the 50053 made from fiberglass?

Yes. Like the full Klein fish rod line, the 50053 is made from fiberglass — non-conductive, corrosion-resistant, and durable for repeated use. The glow coating is applied over the fiberglass surface and does not affect conductivity.
