§ FAQ

Does the ET17 require a smartphone to operate?

No — the ET17 has a built-in display and operates as a standalone unit. The live camera feed is shown on the unit's screen without requiring a paired phone. This is a key advantage over the ET16 (Android USB only) and ET20/ET21 (display-free, phone required).

What resolution and illumination does the ET17 deliver?

1280x720 (720p HD) from a 5.5 mm camera with 6 built-in LEDs — higher resolution than the ET16 (640x480) at a smaller camera diameter. The 5.5 mm probe fits tighter access points than the 9 mm ET16.

How does the 5.5 mm diameter affect access?

At 5.5 mm, the ET17 fits inside 1/2-inch spaces — including plumbing pipe interiors, conduit runs, and wall cavity access holes that are inaccessible to larger cameras. The 10 ft (3 m) probe adds reach for deep-wall or long-run inspections.

Is the ET17 camera waterproof?

IP67 at the camera head and cable — rated for immersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. The display handle body is not rated for immersion.

How does the ET17 compare to the ET18 Plumber's Borescope?

Both share 5.5 mm camera diameter, 720p resolution, 6 LEDs, and a built-in display. The ET17 has a 10 ft (3 m) flexible cable for general utility and wall-cavity inspection. The ET18 uses a 5 ft (1.5 m) armored cable designed to push through pipe bends in plumbing drain lines — stiffer at the cost of shorter reach.
