§ FAQ

What Android devices is the ET16 compatible with?

Android devices with a USB Type-C or Micro-USB port running OTG (On-The-Go) 4.0 or higher. OTG lets the phone act as a USB host — powering the camera and receiving video without a separate battery in the camera unit.

Why does the ET16 use USB instead of WiFi?

USB eliminates the latency, pairing delays, and extra battery drain associated with WiFi streaming. For Android users who want direct and reliable live video, the wired connection on the ET16 is lower-friction than the ET20/ET21 WiFi models. The tradeoff is the phone must remain physically connected to the probe.

Where can a 9 mm camera access that smaller cameras cannot?

The 9 mm diameter fits standard 3/4-inch conduit, most wall cavity access holes, and standard plumbing cleanout openings. It is larger than the 5.5 mm ET17/ET18/ET19 cameras — not suitable for spaces below approximately 3/8 inch — but provides broader illumination in larger cavities.

Is the ET16 camera waterproof?

IP67 at the camera head — suitable for wet wall cavities, drain line inspection, and damp environments. The probe cable and USB connection at the phone end are not rated for submersion.

Does the ET16 work with iOS devices?

No — the ET16 is Android-only via USB OTG. iOS devices do not support the same USB OTG camera protocol. For iOS and cross-platform compatibility, use the WiFi-based ET20 or ET21, which stream video to the Klein Tools app on both Android and iOS.
