Dremel VersaFlame 2200-5 Multi-Function Butane Torch with 5 Accessories

Model number
2200-5

The Dremel VersaFlame 2200-5 is a versatile cordless butane torch designed for both professional and hobbyist use across a wide range of heat applications. Adjustable flame control lets you smoothly transition between delicate soldering, welding, heat blowing, heat deflection, and flame diffusing. An integrated piezoelectric ignition and flame lock enable continuous hands-free operation. The large 22g gas tank provides up to 75 minutes of runtime at maximum capacity. Open flame temperature reaches up to 1200°C (2192°F). The VersaFlame is larger and more torch-like than the VersaTip, making it better suited for applications requiring open flame such as shrink tubing, brazing, and culinary uses. Butane gas is not included.

§ FAQ

What is the difference between the Dremel VersaFlame 2200-5 and the VersaTip 2000-7?

The VersaFlame 2200-5 is a full butane torch — larger capacity, open flame capable, better for applications requiring a real flame like brazing, shrink tubing, and culinary uses. The VersaTip 2000-7 is a precision soldering iron that uses butane to heat a metal tip for controlled soldering, pyrography, and hot cutting — it is tip-contact based rather than open flame. The VersaTip is more precise; the VersaFlame is more powerful.

What butane does the Dremel VersaFlame use?

Standard refined butane lighter fuel (available at hardware stores and online). Use premium triple-refined butane for best performance and longer valve life. Butane is NOT included with the VersaFlame 2200-5.

Can the VersaFlame solder electronics?

Yes, with the included soldering tip. However, for precision electronics soldering — especially on PCBs with tiny components — the VersaTip 2000-7's controlled tip temperature is more appropriate. The VersaFlame is better suited for larger joints and general-purpose soldering.

Is the VersaFlame safe to use indoors?

The VersaFlame should be used in a well-ventilated area. Butane combustion produces CO2 and trace combustion byproducts. Avoid confined spaces, keep away from flammable materials, and always allow the tool to cool before refueling or storing. The integrated ignition and flame lock reduce accidental ignition risk.

How long does the butane tank last on the VersaFlame?

The 22g butane tank provides up to 75 minutes of runtime at full flame. At lower, more typical working settings (soldering or heat blowing), runtime will be longer. A standard butane refill canister (about 60–80g) typically gives 3–4 full refills of the VersaFlame tank.
