§ FAQ

What makes Super 88 different from Super 33+?

Super 88 is 8.5 mil thick versus 7 mil for Super 33+. The extra thickness gives Super 88 higher mechanical protection, a 10,000V dielectric strength rating, and better conformability for wrapping irregular cable splices. Super 33+ covers most residential and light commercial work; Super 88 is preferred by industrial and utility electricians.

What voltage is Super 88 rated for?

Super 88 provides primary electrical insulation for splices up to 600V. Its 10,000V dielectric strength provides a significant safety margin above its rated working voltage.

How does it handle extreme cold?

Reviewers confirm it maintains adhesion well even in cold temperatures. It is rated for use from -18°C (0°F) up to 105°C (221°F), making it a genuine all-season tape.

Can Super 88 be used for cable jacketing?

Yes. It is designed for permanent low-voltage primary and secondary insulation, cable jacketing, mechanical protection, and motor lead padding on indoor and outdoor applications.

Is it compatible with rubber splicing compounds?

Yes. The rubber-resin adhesive is compatible with solid dielectric cable insulations, rubber and synthetic splicing compounds, epoxy, and polyurethane resins.

Does it come in only 3/4 inch width?

The most common retail size is 3/4 in x 44 ft. Industrial rolls are available in 1 in, 1-1/2 in, and 2 in widths in longer yardage.
